Lawrence's 365 for 2014

I've been there Lawrence. I have had days where I just don't want to get up, get out, and shoot. Just didn't have the drive. There are days when I just think, "maybe if I just edit some old ones, that will be good enough and nobody will notice." Those are the days I just snap photos in the back yard and call it a day. As long as you get the shots in, it counts. I actually think when you get shots of things that are mundane and everyday to you and try to make them interesting, that really helps your creativity. It makes you a better photographer.

I really enjoy what you come up with every day. Keep it up.

Day 119

A tad easier today - Took a few different ones but the flowers were the best.

Day 120

Not a good financial day! Unbudgeted dollars needed to be spent on my car for a new alternator.
However that being said Dave Vosper is a really nice guy and did the job while I waited.
He is an auto air-conditioning specialist and the original thought was it was the Air Con pump bearings that had gone - turned out it was't!

Here are a few shots of the hundreds of old pumps he has in his garage.

And then there was this chart on the wall.
Of course I didn't ask - fearing the answer.

Day 122

The sunset showed promise only to fade away in the last few minutes. :(

Fortunately I found these mushrooms growing under a tree.

Nice shots! The ones taken with the TC look very good. Did you have to do and PP on them? I still haven't tried my new TC yet. Weather is rotten here the last few days. Rain, rain, rain, But, it beats cold and snow.

Thanks Ron. That shot was to test my settings but seconds later the clouds all disappeared.
Made me got to thinking how many times you could go out in advance and set up waiting for that perfect shot only for nothing to happen.
Certainly makes me appreciate some of the images that are captured by others.
And then of course there are the occasions where you snap one shot and it is brilliant …
That's life.

That is about right. Sometimes you bite the bear and sometimes, the bear bites you.

Day 123

Fun day with the camera
I went for a loooooong walk today not anticipating or planning anything - just took my trusty old 18-105mm
For last months flower competition I only had one entry and didn't take many flower shots at all.
Today i cam across this one ...

At one point in my walk I had to cross quite a big bridge and when I got to the end of it a motorbike whizzed past me …
"Mmmm …" thought I "there's a good idea!"
So I pulled up a plastic old stool that was lying on the verge and waited with a view to practice my panning.
Left to right traffic I had quite a bit of time to prepare and focus. Not so with right to left traffic as there was a guard rail right there and I had no time at all before they were past.

I really like those shots of the pumps. I always think precision machined equipment is kind of elegant in it's own way. Makes for a great subject when you have the angles right, which you do!

Also, I think those motorcycle shots are cool as hell.
