Next time I am on my computer, I will try and do that. I use photo bucket to post because my files are too big to download directly from my laptop.. I will try using photoshop. To be honest, I am not even sure what exif is lol I will have to google it..

I use photobucket too. if you click and enlarge the image (it can't find it on the thumbnails) and then right click (if your a PC like me lol) sub menu EFIX data then there's a tab that says copy. click then paste on your thread post. when you get a chance. it gives all the photo information. camera, lens, aperture , shutter speed etc . . . thanks again. beautiful images.

Before you download files from your lap top, why not resize them first? Then you could upload them directly from your lap top to Nikonites using Quick Reply/Insert Image icon (third one from the right). Much easier than using Photobucket. :)

Thats how I do it Jack. I select the picture using Windows live picture then downsize it to small. The pic is then around 2kb. That way theres less of a chance of copying.

Kimmie...go back to post #266. I've included the EXIF for the last shot to show you what EXIF is. :)
Ah, ok, I have seen that before, I just didn't know what it was called. I use a mac, I have a laptop and a house computer, and i use iPhoto. I can see the efix info in the corner, but it won't let me copy or transfer the info. Do I do that from iPhoto, or do I do that after I post. Oh, and I don't know how to resize the pics either lol I can make the file smaller by cropping, but I don't always want to do that. There is a setting on my camera for "small file", should I be using that setting? Any and all help is always appreciated.

Melting Ice

Ok, what i had to do was load to photoshop, then e-mail it back to myself, lol, then the files are small enough to upload directly from my laptop. I do plan on heading to the big city one day this spring, and get some lessons from Apple on how to do all these wonderful things that I know are possible.

Not a great shot, OOF, I forgot my glasses at home, and it is REALLY hard to get a focused photo, when one sees everything fuzzy to begin with!! lol

Kim, I'll give it a shot and try to explain a method you could use.
First, create a folder on your desktop and label it "for Nikonites". Then, from iPhoto, select the picture you'd like to post, go to picture...export and export the picture to the "for Nikonites" folder. When you export it, you could make it smaller but I'd advise you not to do so because I find the program uses too much jpeg compression and the quality is not that great (but it could be an easy option).
Then, open your "for Nikonites" folder, open the picture you want to upload with Mac viewer (This is the software that will automatically open jpegs). Now in the menu on top of your window, Go to "Tools"-"resize" (not sure if that is the exacts words since my program is in French), then a new box will open with the options. If you select 1200x800 you should be OK. I always reduce the defenition to 72 pixels/inch since most screens won't have more anyways. Then, save the pic with the highest jpeg quality and you should end up with a picture of about 300-600 Ks that will be small enough for uploading.

Good luck and let us know if you run into problems that I haven't mentioned.

"A taste of spring" there really are a few green shoots in all that brown!

Well THANKS everybody! So much helpful info, I am definitely going to look into all these helpful hints. I have figured out how to resize from iPhoto! lol Jack, the "resize free download wouldn't download for me, lol of course, but I will investigate further because when I come across problem, it is usually, (or always) me, but I will figure it out! Once again, thanks everybody :)
