Just took the dive into FX...opinions on lens selection

On macro lens note, I would consider say, the D 50mm lens for its aperture ring. Then, just buy a cheap, full-manual extension ring or a reverse ring and there's your door into macro until you feel you like it enough to merit spending $500-1000 on a proper piece of glass (that basically incorporates the aforementioned and adds a couple bells and whistles, not black magic).

Hey guys,

If the downstroke on a 24-70 is a bit intimidating...was for me...look for the older, but very good, 28-70mm 2.8. It's a great, great lens and you can snap one up for about half what a newer 24-70 runs. I'm extremely pleased with the photos from my 28-70 and I don't think I give up that much on the lower end. FWIW, YMMV.
