I know no pictures and it didn't happen, well it did, just spent 20 min watching about 5 bright lights in a cluster, they could have been a long way apart due to the distance they where away from me,in that time they didn't move laterally but of course could have been moving towards me.
Although i have always thought there should be life elsewhere in the universe i have never subscribed to the bright light theory, why would anything need lights in space, for this reason i have discounted the reports of clusters of lights in the night sky,not any more i have now seen them and know why people say they couldn't have been planes or helicopters.

Well its not a wind up,to the naked eye its about 5 bright lights in a cluster, dawn is just breaking and its still the same, put the camera on it and doesn't show separate light points just what looks like the moon, wonder if its to do with this moon event at the weekend.

Just ask on another forum and The Plaides or Severn Sisters was put forward as what i may have seen,it certainly looks possible and maybe the camera couldn't record the dark areas i could see between them so i end up with a circular image.

I don't have a clue. Though when you blow up your photo it no longer looks like a moon, though you still can't see any black between the lights you spoke of.

are you on the Newkie Brown stuff Mike? lol

i always thought there was enough space between the Severn Sisters so you would have seen the black?? maybe it is just the way the camera sees it, try again at the same time tomorrow and install google sky map if you have a smart phone, point it at the star/moon and it may give you a better clue.

Hi Mike, I said the moon wasn't full till next Sunday. It is clearly visible now and it was at the Quarter phase yesterday. You don't have to wait for the morning as Pleiades rise above the NE horizon at 9pm and is visible all night and sets in the West around midday tomorrow. It obviously disappears as it gets light in the morning. I don't know why you have got a blurry blob though. I might give it a try tonight if it's clear.

That would be great if you get chance,i have to wait until morning as we have a strange work/sleep pattern, bed about 7pm rise about 3.30 am.

The Pleiades has a distinct pattern that people mistake for the Little Dipper. It also shows up better with averted vision (at least it does where I am)

Can you take a long exposure, wide shot of the area you are looking at? Not so long that you will get trails.

This site has a good photo. Scroll way down the page. There is a good single frame 50 sec exposure of the sky.
