While I'd love to have some serious critique of my photos by the pros here on the forum, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the EXIF data onto a photo. Is the data added via the camera itself or via some editing program? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

it's added at the time of the shot, there's a setting ( on my d3200 anyway) in the menu for it, to add it or leave it off you may need to shoot in raw to get this tho I'm unsure if it's added to jpeg

Yes it gets added in jpeg aswell.
