Sorry to hear that Phil. Been riding since the early 70's and can't imagine not having at least one to tinker with in the shop.
Have 2 Triumphs, 2 Harley's a Honda dirt bike and my wife has a 4 wheeler and that is the fewest bikes I've had at one time in -- I can't remember how long.

There is a guy that publishes a motorcycle trade magazine listing bikes and parts for sell from your part of the world that years ago I gave a bunch of my pictures to publish of a guy from California that was 80 years old at the time and was still competing in motorcycle hillclimbs. Still have a copy of his magazine somewhere????

Bracketing? D-lighting? I thought I was getting to know my D5100. After reading this thread, I feel brand new. Back to the manuel.

We are all always learning :),

Except for Pete, he knows everything, and if he doesn't know, he's so convincing you'll believe him.

I called Nikon support today about my new lens and when that problem was solved I asked about grid view and below is the answer that I posted in another thread.

I asked the support guy where was the grid view selection in the menu. Told him that all I can find is in Live View.
He looked and could not find anything more then put me on hold for about 10 minutes to consult with the tech person more familiar with the D5100.

He was told that on the higher end Nikons there is no grid view because of the markings in the view finder. I said there was no markings in the view finder and as I was looking to confirm this I noticed the small horizontal and vertical brackets surrounding each focus point ----- DUH!

Lesson learned -- don't look so hard for the big things and miss the little bracket marks.
