Are you enjoying your stay? :p

As I was allowed to leave, yes. LOL My Great grandparents worked here around 1905. I never discussed the job with them but my mom says they said it wasn't a very nice place to work. LOL

Day 210. Got a call from a lady that does vintage pin up shoots. Wanted to use my bike. I've been busy trying to clean it up. Hopefully she will allow me to take a couple of my own pics.

So I went to the photoshoot. It was a lot of fun. I took a few pics BUT I didn't realize she was going to shoot after dark. I didn't bring a tripod and I didn't want to use a flash to intrude. Day 211

But you got to shoot the setup...that is cool in itself :D I wonder if she would let you share any of her shots?

I like that shot of the lights in the water. You did well getting that handheld. Cropping the bottom and top (to get rid of the uneven grass bank and that bush, and the excess sky that will result from cropping the bottom) might make it even better.

Yes, cropping is needed but it was kind of late and I had worked all day and..........lol. I was pretty happy with it hand held. Yes, I believe she will allow me to share her pics. I believe this was for her portfolio to use as advertising.

great bike John, what year is it, 50's?

Long story. It's actually a 2000. It is the same bike R.E. made in the 50's. They never actually quit making them. In the 50's India wanted them for their military. The law said that anything bought for the military like this had to be produced in India. Royal Enfield built a plant to make bikes for the military there. They went out of business in the 60's but India didn't care, they just continued to build the same bike year after year.

For years it wasn't called a "Royal Enfield" but it was still the same bike being produced just as if it was 1955. In 2000 someone was able to acquire the name and added turn signals and started selling them in the states again. I thought the story interesting and bought one.

The ones you can buy now are no longer the original. They have a different engine design, fuel injected, disc brakes, electric starter, etc. Nothing quite like kick starting a 500 thumper and something people no longer want to do. LOL

you should strip the lacquer of the engine casing and polish it up to match the chrome guards, but can be tricky if they use rocksalt on the roads in winter for ice.

I once had it polished up pretty nice but dang, it's a lot of work keeping it that way.
