So I went back to try some things differently. Seemed to come out better but I have a question if anyone knows.....maybe there is no answer....I don't know. Couple of these are close. If I only would have shot a little higher in the pic with the ducks flying in front of the bridge but dang, they give you no warning when they decide to fly.

In the solo duck pic, can I do anything so that the dark head comes out better?

The dark head is all about lighting tell that silly duck that it needs to pose better and watch where the light is before it takes off LOL Mostly its getting in a good lighting position and hoping that wildlife poses nicely for you (patience). You could try lightening up the shadows in processing
Actually the green sheen of the mallards shows up best on bright but overcast days. Hope that was helpful :)

It does......I guess I feel better knowing that my only option was as you say, better timing and planning. As noted, dang the darn things don't like to co-operate. :D

In the end I enjoy watching them more than planning out some elaborate shoot. :D

Yah me too but sometimes you get lucky and they pose nicely which is my excuse for always having my camera ready while my family groans :)

I was able to get back out......I did a couple things different again. Anyway, just before dark I tried a picture of the bridge I had photographed before but this time really on the other side of the tree.

My walk out to the bridge.

I can never get very close to these guys but I was pretty happy to both get close and to get the bird in focus as opposed to the closer tree limbs. LOL

Today's picture is just a rant. I rarely go to McD's but I worked today and the wife called and said she was busy this evening for me to grab something on the way home. McD's is one of the few places I pass. I get home and this is what consists of an order of fries. A half order.

And they wonder why they are losing customers.

We never really go there, but my son has allergies and one of the few things he can have when we are out for a day trip or extended stay somewhere is Mc'd's chicken nuggets,so if we are in a hurry we grab them for him.One time this summer,we ordered him some and got the bag, headed out of the parking lot to get back on the interstate,my wife reaches in the bag, pulls out his box of nuggets, and opens it up to find lettuce....I had to do a quick u turn and go back, what a PITA...needless to say we really dont like stopping there

On occasion I would get a box of chicken nuggets. McD's got rid of the only thing that made them edible, the hot mustard sauce. No more.

There were pictures for the day above. The first try completely dissapeared and not the pics are gone.

I'll have to try this tree from a better angle.
