One thing that hasn't been mentioned that I'll bring up in case you're still looking for some advice, but if you do take the job, make sure that you keep good records of everything you used your personal equipment/funds for your work. At the end of the year, you can write off all of that. You should be able to write off your camera gear since you're now using it for work, your computer, any (no matter how short of a distance) mileage on the car (at .56/mile) and possibly the difference between what is reimbursed and the government rate, and any fees you pay for the rental equipment. Might just swing it from a bad deal to a good deal. Maybe swing by a tax professional and ask a couple of questions about all of the different things that you would be able to itemize and how to document all of your expenses to cover you for the end of the year. Also, maybe you can just do this work while you're looking for another job and at least swing some reimbursable computer/camera equipment out of the deal.

Good advice. I would add all the meals taken on the road and of course all your insurance premiums. In short what ever you spend, may be eligible for tax deductions. For all you know, with most of the expenses written off, your job may even be profitable to you.

Ok, I got the information I needed today. The area I would be serving is scattered hell to breakfast and frequently requires travels outside of a 100 mile radius, not the 50 mile radius they advertised. No way I can foot the fuel bill for that. I turned down this job.
