another busy day candle shot. trying to master low light photography and editing out the noise.
finally decided on what kit im going to invest my hard earned in. I've decided to go for a d610 instead of a d800 and spend the rest on some glass. The glass i'm going for is the sigma 24-70 f2.8 and a sigma 70-200 f2.8. I'd like the Nikon stuff but there just out of my price range at the moment. I'm hoping to be fully kitted out got Barcelona in the middle of the month!

Cheers steveH. It's a weight off out minds. Its been a like a dark cloud hanging over us for a wile now. This year has been a terrible one. With the death of a close uncle then the cancer scare and now another family member has just been informed her cancer has began to spread. Just got to keep pushing forward.

6/10/14, tonight picture is called flower in the darkness. I got my wife to hold the stem of the flower in front of the TV, I used this as a dark screen to get the black background. I then upped the blacks and contrast in Photoshop to get it like this. Job done...

7/10/14 Colour me gray. This is just me playing about. I stripped some of the colours away to leave it looking half de-saturated.

8/10/14 just a flower. Again against a black background (the tv again) High Iso and then reduced the noise a tad by softening. Hopefully tomorrow a few of my new toys turn up then I'm good to go.

9/10/14 New kit on the block. Ok so I was going to get a D610 but then this came on the scene for less than £1000 and only 36000 shutter actions so I jumped at it. Also got the 24-70 f2.8 and the 70-200 f2.8 (both sigma as you can tell. Now to start learning all over again.

Ok so here's my first shot with my new body. Used the 70-200 at full reach and took a macro shot. Then just cropped and slightly upped the saturation.

Awesome new kit James, have fun!! I'm looking at a Tamron or Sigma 70-200 2.8 sometime soon, so I'll look forward to looking at your shots!

I looked at the tamron 70-200 f2.8 too. At first it looks to be a good option and one that I seriously considered. That was until I talked to a trusted friend of mine. He's been in the photography business for 20+ years, he warned me off tamron. He informed me it just wasn't built for the business. It's ok for occasional use but a 70-200 is one of your work horse lenses. You need build quality. You need it to be able to take the pace and the tamron can't. He informed me that if you can't afford the the nikon then the sigma is the next best thing.

This... well this is tea. Probably could have shot it on the table them I wouldn't have to cut so much of the back ground out.
