I have begun selecting gifts for family and friends. I am not big on gift cards or mass produced gifts simply because anyone can buy that stuff.

My favorite gifts to give are things that are unique to me. This year, I have started to pick out my absolute favorite photos I have taken during this year

and I am having them printed on canvas. Each of these canvas prints are mounted on stretchers measuring 11 X 14 inches.

Each of the photos has been selected based on comments that have been made by the future recipient.

I have found that I can have these made for around $30.00 each. This is a company that I have used before and I will use them again.

How-ever, since this is NOT a commercial for them, I'll not mention their name here.

I think these canvases will make a wonderful cost effective and personalized gift.

I think that is an absolutely fantastic idea Pete! It's something unique they can not purchase anywhere else. It is personal because you have selected a special image just for them. I think the recipients will be delighted in a truly unique and thoughtful gift and enjoy it for years to come. Not a lot of gifts that are purchased have that staying power. I have done photos and framed them in the past but the canvas idea is stellar!

I have been doing the same for family and friends birthdays. When I get pictures matted to sell I give the person a choice of what they like, then tell them happy birthday.I havent tried canvas yet.

That's a great idea. To that end, many mid-level on up printers can print on canvas. My Epson R2000 can print on canvas up to a given thickness. So I would suggest people with printers who are interested in doing something like this check and see if they can't do it themselves. The only issue would be stretching the canvas on to the frame, which may or may not be very difficult.
