I'm using the Nikon d5200 with the sigma 150-600 mm contemporary lens for wild life photography or birds etc, can't seem to find auto ISO in manual mode, any suggestions on what mode I could use / settings thanks

Dont know if its there or not but worse case scenario you could use shutter priority and auto iso, the C lens is normaly fairly good wide open.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

The previous posters pretty well covered what I would have suggested.

It should work. I took a look at the manual posted above. I don't have the camera to give you exact steps. It might be a matter of figuring out what the buttons want from you to make it happen. I like to shoot that lens in manual mode with auto iso. 1/800 and f8 if the light is good. If not, I'll open it some more. I don't put an upper limit on the iso.

When I shoot that lens, I don't limit the iso. Its a personal choice though. If I get a crappy picture, oh well. It would have been worse if iso was limited since I am in manual and already at minimum settings. Sometimes I'll shoot animals in the back yard. In that case I often use flash and I do lock in a low iso.

I was shooting something else this winter and spotted this heron. I just zoomed in and took a quick shot even though I knew it was too dark. I forgot to readjust my shutter speed, way too slow for 600mm. While its not a great shot, its ok considering it should be more blurry and it came off at iso 25,600 with the d7100. Shot raw, it cleaned up pretty good.

Thanks for all the comments, just got to put them into practice now, quite new to using manual mode, but slowly getting there!
