Is this the best?

I have been a member of several forums ranging from cars through to photography and I have found that this is the best forum, no backbiting, no malicious comments, harsh critique. Just friendly, sometimes funny, always helpful. As an example of the other side, on one specialist car forum I said that my son was in the army was serving in Iraq and actually had someone say that he hoped he would get shot.
So thanks to all of you for making this such a great site and long may it continue

WE try to be nice and have had a few problem children in the past but our members have a way of making them feel unwelcome. LOL

My son served in Iraq and Afghanistan and for the most part people were very supportive. I thank your son and mine for their service to our country.

Thanks Don. My son decided to visit New York during some time off and what a time you Yanks gave him, free beer free food even a huge reduction on the room rate. He could not believe it. Over here now they are not allowed to wear their uniforms off base following the hacking to death of an off duty soldier as he walked the streets in London.

My son went back to college after he got out and now works for the student veterans association on campus at The University of Alabama. He got his degree in the Spring but went back to work on a second major while looking for a job. This being Alabama we are extremely military friendly and he still wears his uniform to events they have on campus.

I shoot for the group for different campus events.

Welcome and sorry to hear of such a vile comment made toward your son by someone living under the safety afforded them by their countries military.

Anyway, welcome.

I help moderate a car forum. And I know full well how discussions on them came flame in a instant. This is a great place to hang out. Welcome, and tell your son thanks from another vet.

It is interesting how different forums, even though they cover totally different content, can have some of the same personalities. It's amazing to me how many exhibit the negative features that the OP mentioned, while very few feel like "home".

I used to run a motorcycle forum (for a specific make/model of sport-touring motorcycle) that has/had a similar "family" feel as Nikonites. That's not to say there's never a heated moment ... even families have their times of challenge. But I'm thankful to have found this group of photogs here on Nikonites as I take this journey into photography and all the different possibilities it opens for me.

To the OP, please pass along my thanks to your son for serving in harms way!
