Is this in keeping or OTT?

This month's club competition is "texture" and I wanted to do something a bit different.
I liked the idea of denim and particularly faded and ripped.
Plus I had been to a rodeo recently and thought of this idea.

What do you think?
Too OTT or does it tell a story about the denim?
Too quiche maybe?

I am sorry to be harsh, but it looks like a department store flyer less the verbiage. Torn denim is on every rack in every retail store in the mall; it has lost all connection to actual wear and use. Now, if you shot a worn down cuff and working boot, you might have something.

I read that funny and couldn't figure out who the heck is Tom Denim.:D

I like the concept. My first thought is cropping the first shot to a portrait orientation of the horse and rider. and maybe play with the opacity of each layer.

Accepted but it is about Texture not about working boots etc. :)

Nice idea but both have the horse cut off. Maybe stronger on the horse and let the denim fade into the background.

I'm with Don. On both shots I wanted to see the horse and rider properly and have the denim faded into the background. Alternatively, texturize the shot with a textured layer rather than a denim background have the denim as a proper texture...like this

I think the first shot tells more of a story about the jeans then about the texture of them. The shot by it self with out the rider would work better in just showing texture.

I am not sure about the horse/rider overlayed. Maybe us other items with the denim to create a similar feeling? Old horse shoe, the denim laying in the dirt. Or similar.

I like the first image layout, but with the full horse and cowboy in it.

To me it feels like a print ad I would see here in the west where we actually have cowboys and not just men playing dress-up that call themselves cowboys.
