First time I have been able to photograph one of these and can make out what it is, they usually stay in the deep shadows and my gear can't handle it. This one sat high up on a branch early this morning. I have had to crop, so its not the best image, but its the best one I have to date of this bird.

Its a Rose-crowned Fruit Dove...

First time I have photographed one of these in juvenile plumage. Its a Common Koel.
Difficult shot, because I was shooting almost directly into the sun and with all the twigs and leaves in the way, the Tamron is having a lot of trouble focusing on the bird, also cropped.

I have been experimenting with the Sigma 50-150, seeing what I can use it for. Its not a focal range that I usually use much, I normally use shorter or longer, well except for my 55 macro which does fall in the lower end of the range.

I found this Huntsman Spider beside the track down to my creek this afternoon. I had the 55mm macro lens on, this is about 7 feet from the camera, the spider is about 7-8 inches from tip of back leg to tip of front leg.
I will go back down there with a longer lens tomorrow, I can't get closer than this without a ladder.

Yeah, you're right. I realised it wasnt a Huntsman after I made that post, because Huntsmans dont use a web, I should have edited the post (Done now :) )

Its strange that arachne.com doesnt have a good match for it.

I am very impressed with my new Sigma 50-150 lens, this is a handheld shot at 150mm f2.8 and 1/10th of a second, the second image is a 100% crop, see the mosquito on her ear....

i think blacktop got mixed up on how to apply florida bug juice, it is not applied inside out. I think pretty soon he will be seeing pink alligators.
