The Pearl Opal Polyresin segment on the top barrel is actually the result of a bugger-up when I was turning it. I had to redo the top barrel, and the off cut of Truestone wasnt long enough to do the job, so I used a leftover off cut of the polyresin to help my save the pen.
I think it turned out OK, I would have preferred it was all truestone , but when your mind is not fully on the job, these things happen.
So a mistake has probably resulted in a more interesting pen.
We'll see if someone likes it enough to buy it. That will be the test.

All of this stuff is fantastic sir...the pens are great...the photography is vastly better since the beginning of this thread...I almost think you are getting better with the pens too!
Are you taking orders for Christmas...where is your inventory and order form? I might have to study my financial resources...

I agree on the improved photography bit, not sure about the pens getting better, but maybe they are, because taking photos like these show up any defects or below par workmanship better than what the eye can see, so it pushes me to try harder to make things perfect. So perhaps I have improved my pen making standard as a result of getting better at photographing them as well.
As far as the inventory and order form. I was in the process of building a website to help sell my pens, when I realised I needed a better camera, so I bought the d3100. Ever since I got it I have been preoccupied taking photos, and haven't gotten my website finished. I suppose I should pull my finger out and get it finished.:redface-new:
Those are my picks as well, I thought I would give the acrylic stand a try and see how it looks, but I think I like the rock better.
Finished this finial twist ballpoint this afternoon.
I used Hairy Oak as a medium this time.
Edit... the gold disc on the end of the finial depicts the Southern Cross Constellation, and the band on the centre of the pen depicts The Wattle Blossom, giving the pen an Australian flavour.

It is an Australian tree that only grows in a few isolated patches. Highly sought after by woodworkers and woodturners.

Two new ones completed this afternoon.
First is a green poly-resin ballpoint....
2nd is a special poly resin blank created to raise funds for the 2012 natural disaster victims of Queensland.
Bruce the creator, called them "Rebuild Queensland", and donated 100% of his sales to the cause.
I still have a couple left, not sure if I can get anymore once they are gone.

Picture quality is fine, but the pen is magnificent. Very nice indeed. Great work!

It has been a while since I have cleaned my workshop, dust seems to be a bit of a problem. I am wiping the pens down with a microfibre cloth, but the dust is still troubling me, some of it I can take out with the retouch brush, but some bits are near impossible without smudging the detail, so I have to let those bits stay.
