Iphoto (mac) edit in lightroom lens profiles gone

Hi,
I noticed that when I edit a photo (NEF) from iphoto in an external program, (import in) lightroom 5.6, lightroom doesnt recognize or show the lens corrections, and if I choose manually only a small list of 5 items is available. The exif data is shown, both in lightroom as in iphoto. If I import a photo directy into lightroom, I dont have this problem and lightroom recognizes automatically which lens I used. Also the lens list is completely populated. When I export the photo first from iphoto, and then import that exported file into lightroom, everything works fine.
Any idea how comes? And how to solve it?

I suspect that whatever edits you're doing up front before LR are causing LR to prohibit certain actions, possibly because the previous edit blocks the action - even when the information you think LR needs is in the EXIF. How to solve it? Import into LR first and then invoke the other editing programs from there.

The photo in iphoto is the original uneditted one. If i export this same pic from iphoto, and import into lightroom, everything is fine. So lightroom blocking this because of previous edit could not be the problem.

My point is that there's something that's happening with the iPhoto import, regardless if you do anything with the photo. If you're not using iPhoto for anything other than the import then why not use LR instead to import from the card/camera?

Iphoto and Aperture are on their way out the door and will be replaced with Photos. I would suggest moving to LR first and then store back to iPhoto like mentioned. I only use Aperture now for the cloud, which I suspect you may be using iPhoto for. Either way, LR is being kept up to date but neither Apple product will be after the new App comes out. Something to think about.

If you're using the "Default" or "Auto" setting under the Lens Corrections / Profile tab, try changing the setting to, "Custom" instead.

This gets the section to populate for me.
