A iphone will suffice for photos. If you need more will depend on what you are planning on doing with those photos. Filling out your profile will help by letting us know what kind of camera you are shooting with.

Are you shooting in RAW or JPEG?
What post processing program are you using?
Do you shoot a lot? Will the Hard Drive be large enough?

The more important questions you need to ask is him much memory does this computer have and how fast is the processor.
Lots of questions before you go much further.

I have a high end graphics processing unit (gpu), or graphics card, on my pc and it does little or nothing for loading and/or processing photographic images. Most gpu's are designed for 3d imaging, and photo images are 2d with very few exceptions.

Most programs today work the cpu and memory harder than the gpu, and the reason is program developers know that most of their users don't have a gpu, but they do know you have a cpu and memory.

-- As noted, focus on how much memory your system has.

-- How old is your system?

-- how big is the hard disk drive?
