Had some more time to mess with them....

Next time I go out I think I need to shoot something other than pine trees, and give it a longer exposure. I think these were : ~f8 , 4s - 8s, iso 100.... I think i'm going to stop down the aperature to f20 and do 30s or more exposures next time and see how that goes.

Went out with my IR filter again today... ended up with this. I think i'm starting to get the hang of the channel swapping and changing colors hues.

I find that on a bunch of shots I end up getting a "streak" of magenta, or over exposed streak.
its usualy in the center of the shot going left to right covering about 1/5th of the image... this makes them un usualble.

I can't figure out if this streak is happening because of the way i'm holding the filter in place,( I don't think i'm moving it to where some Visible light leaks in) or maybe its the direction of the sun in conjunction to the direction i'm taking the shot.

I tried to rule out those possibilities but I can't be sure... any tips?

Does your filter screw onto the lens and what type is it...

Its a Cokin slide holder type filter, not a screw in. I'm using it without the filter holder and just hand holding it (I know i'm probably moving my camera then too) but if I put it in the holder theres light leakage and I can't get a correct shot

I read a bit more online and I guess some lenses will give you a "hot spot" when doing IR. I've tried two different zooms and a prime and they all will occasionaly give me that streak.. i'll post a pic so you see what I mean, the first isn''t as obvious, but the second is bad... both pics are unusable
