In Los Angeles, tourists carried Canons at least 4x more than Nikons.

I've actually seen a lot more Nikon's around than Canon's. I only look out of curiosity though.

I don't play a Fender or a Gibson, so I guess it doesn't bother me much that more people use a different camera than me, either. :)

Scott Kelby basically says Canon is the iPhone of DSLR's...that says something even though I'm a diehard Android user.

So they're overhyped and people only buy them because they fall for marketing? Lol

I'm hardcore Android too.

When that eye tracking focus thing first came out, I wasn't the least bit swayed. I was a Nikon fan, and that wasn't going to change. I thought it would just be a nuisance for a camera to focus on whatever my eye looked at in the viewfinder. I still don't think it's a good idea.

I see about just a bit more canon in my area. Want to feel alone try shooting Olympus ;). I'm sure its different in Asia. I get a lot of questions and people think Im shooting film.

But there is something just unmistakable about the sound of a Gibson Les Paul. Or a Fender Tele for that matter.

I play bass. My Lakland sounds like a P-Bass should, and my Carvin sounds like a great Jazz Bass. :) Both were less expensive and, IMO, better made than a Fender. I'd gladly play a Fender any day, though. In general, people are too brand conscious, and I fall in that category myself at times. :)

Don't know if this is the reason i use a well known camera repair tech to fix broken lenses i buy. He told me that nikon will no longer sell parts to the independent repair guys like him so guess what customers come in asking what brand he pushes canon.

I see a fairly even split here but possibly 2-1 in canons favour, although sometimes all I'll see are Nikons, on another day it's almost all canon. In the past 5 years I've seen a lot more Nikon advertisements, specifically the "I am Nikon" adds which were a common sight for a while.

I chose Nikon as my housemate shot Nikon and I'd borrowed his camera quite a bit and liked it. It also seemed that most online comparisons and youtube videos suggested the D3200 was the best beginner camera with its guide mode thingamejibber. I never used that anyway though.

If I was starting from scratch now, I'd be seriously tempted by the 7DII for wildlife with its faster frame rate and bigger buffer but I'd have to do some head scratching between that and a D7200.

This thread got a lot more interesting since we bought guitars and amps into it. How bout a nice Vox tube amp?:greedy_dollars:

I'm a drummer, so my ears are garbage, but my guitar friends can pick out country of origin for the vacuum tubes used in guitar amps based off sound, and can tell a lot about frets and fingerboard wood by sound as well. I though I was special for knowing who Gibson and Fender are... :)
