A nearby FD has a memorial to both a local fallen hero, as well as the 343 firefighters & paramedics who died 9/11/01. It includes a statue dedicated to Mike Mercurio, who died of a heart attack after fighting a fire, as well as a portion of a steel beam from one of the WTC towers.
I took some time today to go visit, and bring home my little piece of it.
