If some of you think Canada is always cold...

Actually that's a good joke. There's no way I can imagine the title of that book as Celsius 234.44.

The premiss of the book is Fahrenheit 454 is the temperature that paper burns, and in this case were talking about burning books. Firemen start fires. It's an excellent dystopian novel that ranks right up there with Orwell's 1984. You should give 'em a read - it worth your time.

Photoshop! Everyone knows those temperatures by our northern neighbors are actually fahrenheit. They are after our tourist dollars when we visit and have to buy parkas, gloves, and snow boots. Very clever they are up north!

And the Canadien friendliness? They are actually moving in close for proximity warmth of us overly plump Americans. :highly_amused:

Hi Moab Man,

This statement is not correct. Canada has adopted the metric system some decades ago!
Mind you, I can say for sure that it is used in Québec, where most people understand both
systems. The rest of Canada… I'm not sure at all.

One thing I'm sure of is that the US is among the very few countries in the world not adopting
it!

As the most affluent single nation in the world (at least the last time I looked), just about everyone else in the world are after US dollars. The Italians/German/UK/Japanese are after US dollars for sports cars, various parts of Asia have massive trade imbalances with the US, and yes, the Canadians along with the Italians, Greeks, UK and Europe in general are after our tourism dollars (no doubt I left somebody out). Seems American have plenty of disposal income and time to spend it. The US is a net importer of just about everything you can name except automobiles. But, other countries are not blessed with the massive resources available to us.

In a world that is growing increasingly hostile to the US, we should keep our Western style democracy Canadian neighbor on good terms. Anyway, this discussion belongs in another forum but I want to respond to the criticism of Canadian neighbor. Enough said, let's leave at that.

Ummmm, it was a joke. I know Canada and most of the world uses Celcius the same way I know you guys in Canada aren't really buried in snow 365 days of the year. 355 days yes, but 365 no.

Hi Moab Man,

This statement is absolutely correct.

Our poet and living legend Gilles Vigneault has declared quite some times ago that:

We enjoy in this country two beautiful seasons: winter and the 21st of July! …which, incidentally, is today…

Happy Summer Day
to all
CANADIANS!
