I need buying advice for 2 bags

Well, i know this topic is like beating the crap off a dead horse, but like they say 'to each his own'..
so here's my situation...

This is what i currently own-
1x D5100
1x D7000
35mm 1.8G, 18-55 kit lens, 70-300mm VRII
chargers, cables, cleaning kits, MMC holders and all the other usual accessories.

i also do have a Lowepro PRO RUNNER 200 AW... and the 2 standard Nikon bags

I want a bag just to carry my D5100 with the 35mm lens ONLY.
planning to carry the camera with me, so i don't really want anything else.
Along with this, i would need some space to carry other non-photography thingies like lunch, documents among other things.

Would a regular backpack serve the purpose in terms of safety?
I usually travel by motorcycle, so safety is a concern. and i think i may want ease of access (like the lowepro slingshot)

Secondly, this is something i would purchase in the future-
a bag that can carry all of the above, along with at least 4 other lens the 105 28mm & the 2.8/4 holy trinity & a full frame body)
I've seen the ThinkTank airport security & i think that suits my (future) needs perfectly - as i think i need decent protection, an option to roll it along & wear as a back pack when necessary)

if i was traveling by motorcyle again with photo equipment i would have a couple of pelican or similar cases. One nasty fall and they pay for themselves.

Being on a bike, I'd think you'd also want something very waterproof. A nice heavy downpour could be disastrous!!

You might look into the Lowepro Dryzone 200.The adventurer.I have the Lowepro 302 and only have room for 4 lenses,1 camera.No lunch,LOL.:)

Yep, I'd suggest a Slingshot, also. They're practical,especially when riding a bike. The slide-around feature makes it easy to quickly access your camera.

+1 for the Slingshots. I ride as well, and if you have some saddlebags, the AW 202 fits nicely into one, or you can just wear it over your back without it hindering any motion like looking over your shoulder for lane changes, etc. It will hold the body and 1 lens, and has quite a bit of room left for the extras you mentioned.

I've only ridden with it over my shoulder once, as I prefer the safety of the hard bags, but it's AMAZINGLY easy to pull out of a saddle bag, slip over the shoulder, and run. Worn openly, I doubt it would hold together well if you went down, but then again... if you go down, your photo equipment might be the least of your worries. Just don't go down.

I have the Kata Bumblebee 210 ($150.00 on sale for 130.00). I absolutely love this bag. It holds at least 3-4 lenses and flash or my camera body with a lens attached (depending on how you organize everything. It actually has a compartment for lunch or other things. It also includes an area for a laptop or documents. It comes with a rain protector that actually works well. I mainly use it to carry my laptop, books (college student) and camera gear with me. Depending on how you set it up, it may work well for you. The ease of access is sort of an issue. The bottom section of the bag is meant to be used for the camera and gear while the top is meant for other things. I tend to mainly use the bottom area for my lenses and my flash. I tend to use the middle pocket (meant for lunch or a coat) to carry my camera to easily access it. It has everything you need (in my opinion). It is very comfortable and roomy. Look around for photos and reviews. I added a link. I have the 2nd one on the list in black. It is not this exact one but it is very close to it.

Awesome.. I like both the Kata & the Lowepro sling bags..
Claudia, i checked out the Kata 3N1 series... am thinking that would suit me even better cos i would be carrying only 1 camera & 1 lens at a time and lots of other stuff.. so there seems to be more space in this..

Pretzel - thanks. the Lowepro ones look good.. it's mostly gonna be the Lowepro or the Kata unless i find something better which seems unlikely

I dont know of a small bag, but for future i would recommend the lowepro flipside 500 AW, all around brilliant bag, huge and super protective, got mine last week and I love it!

Kata 3N1 - 10DL

Pretty small, seems like it will perfectly fit/protect my D5100 with the 35mm...
and all my other stuff.. docs, lunch lol etc :)

I think that is a good idea. I have had my Kata Bumblebee for over a year and a half. I use it very often yet it looks completely new. It handles very good around the environment that I take my bag to. I do like the 3n1, especially the different ways to adjust the straps. The main reason I do not go for lowerpro is due to its short straps. I went to a camera store to try it out before purchasing it. That was my final say so! Maybe that will help you in really finalizing your decision between the two.

Yep.. i think i've decided to go with the 3N1 series..
there are 3 variations 10Dl, 20DL & 33Dl which are larger sizes...
i need the smallest bag to fit just one cam with a 35mm prime, so not a lot of space...

i have a lowepro pro runner 200aw...
got it wen i first got my camera, but that feels very funny.. its small & i feel like i have a hump on my back..
i have a pic of me with the bag on in my daily thread :)

PS: the pic i posted above seems to be an older model.. the new one seems to have had a slight design change with the buckles removed and stuff..
