I am not happy

Big step from not being happy with one lens to going FX,i do see your style as suiting FX but as i say a big step.
I would agree with that. I think from memory Michael, most or all your lenses are DX lenses, so a jump to fx right away would be rather costly.
If you are going to buy any new lenses, best to buy ones suitable for fx so a move to an fx camera later on will be less painful.

@tedg954 is spot on Michael. You deserve a motorized Nikon to allow you more choice in glass. The work you are doing is spectacular and you would really benefit from having the option of using AF D glass. I recommend all the D glass in my signature immensely. No excess electronic junk to break, just ultra high quality glass. My new 80-200 F/2.8 AF ED is absolutely spectacular I am soooo pleased.

Grab a D7100 or a D700, you deserve it and it is time!

I have a very good copy of the Nikkor 70-300 AF-S VR and also recommend it btw.....but the AF on my new 80-200 blows it away for speed. That thing just snaps and whirs like a fine musical instrument!

Also does anyone know if the 55-300 VR would focus faster on a D7000, D300s or D7100 or other motorized Nikon cam?

I just popped my 55-200 VR on my D300 and she is plenty fast.....sorry don't have access to a 55-300 VR to compare....

Is there an LCS you can take your lens to Michael to compare D5100 focus with that lens to a D7100 in the shop?

O.K. Here is my decision. Yesterday my wife, my daughter and I went for shopping (Chinese New Year) to our favorite shopping mall. What a coincidence That my #1 Camera Shop is there too.

I withdraw money from ATM, cos if I pay cash, I get 8% discount of a Camera Equipment, and I wanted to buy a Tamron 70-200 2.8.
( TAMRON | TAMRON 70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro For Nikon | :: DIGITAL2HOME :: digital camera shop, digital camera, camera price, camera compare, camera bag :: DIGITAL2HOME :: Digital Camera :: Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic, Olympis, BenQ. ) 23,900.00 THB = 733.637 USD

On the way, we were passing by a beautiful small Beauty Salon and my lovely daughter took my hand so I had to stop in front of the shop window. She pointed at a set and whispered to me: "Do yo know daddy, this is what mummy want so badly. Every time when mommy and I passing here by she stops and tells herself that one day she is going to buy it. My wife told our great daughter that this is just not that necessary and that it was very expensive as well. But as you know the spoken words reached my heart. I gave a thought of the words my daughter told me an decided to go into the shop. My daughter was happy my wife at this time not so much.

Oh I love Thailand. They can speak so sweet, especially that sales woman which came straight towards me. But she convinced me about the product. I have to say that my wife has to make every week a special skin treatment in a clinic. She's got an allergy. O.K. I was convinced about that product. Finally I asked about the price I was a bit surprised cos it was almost as same as the Tamron. I asked for discount and the sales lady agreed to a 10% drop down cos of Chines New Year. I know that my wifes birthday is around the corner as well and I bought that set for her.

And not one second I was sad buying this set and not buying the Tamron. I am going to use my 55-300. Actually it does a great job. I took lots of photos using the 55-300 two days ago: Some I posted here http://nikonites.com/project-365-and-daily-photos/23991-spirit-thailand.html#axzz36XuiaoGQ

Maybe someone think I am a softy or like this, but that's me. I love my family and for me their happiness is more worth than my hobby. And I know that soon Thai New Year is coming up and I am sure that my Camera shop is going to have some great discounted offers.

You did good Michael. There are always a hundred ways to get the photos we want without reverting to new hardware. I am betting a better lens will come along when you are in the position to purchase it.

Now I am happy, testing my new flash. I don't know why I waited so long time to buy one. Indoor, low light and my daughter is clear. If I learn about flash and how to use my Yongnuo YN-568EX, I think my indoor Temple shots get better

I have the same flash Michael.
I have only been using mine for macro so far.
All the reviews I read were positive, I think you will be happy Michael.

I agree with you that I am going to be happy, What I see so far is that YN-568EX fires three time before taking a photo.
