Ring of stones (a lot older then stonehenge) Picture for Tue 13 Aug 2013:

Sadly the feeling in a place like this can not be fully captured in a picture.

Seagull with
TC-20E III.
Picture for Mon 12 Aug 2013.

12 Aug 2013 Seagull - WM.jpg

Discussing with an other Nikon user, he gave me his TC-20E III to try for 5 Min. This was taken at 400mm, AF with the bird flying close to me.

At a long distance the AF was not very good or the TC at the extreme 400mm setting gave some "soft" results. Would need more testing to establish that.
The seagull was the convincing test, I had the impression the 70-200mm did not loose any performance on that shot (I still find the focus a little un-precise, but that could be due to a number of reasons).

The same seems to be in this thread: http://nikonites.com/telephoto/15478-north-korea-reason-i-bought-2x-teleconverter.html#axzz2cOGaauOP

Car for today, went to my favourite subject. Not the best backgound, reflections, etc ...but did not find better:

Toyota Supra - WM.jpg

Nikon D7000 50mm F/1.8G F/3.5 1/320s Exposure Mode: Programmed Auto* ISO 320

NB: also tried some moving night shots at ISO H2 with Shutter speed priority. Not the best photos with the high grain, but was happy it does give something.

Painting, a car shot that was still not ideal, so I used some tricks around it. No reflection issues on this mat Orange paint though.

Audi TT Mat Orange Blue.jpg

Always have trouble in this parking lot with the light that is too dominant in the back and too limited inside , but regularly there are interesting cars.

Renault RS, had some trouble choosing. I think I still go to fast, my first subject I probably did not take the time to get the right angle and so I rejected it.

I found this spider, but on high ISO it is too grainy:

Butterflies: I went out to look for the dragonfly I had seen some weeks ago (this time when there was light), it flew by and that is all I saw of it.
I had seen a nice bird, but waiting for it did not seem to give it any motivation to come out again, so I noticed the butterflies.
Walking to them I saw grasshopper but that had disappeared by the time I tried to focus on it.

So this is what came out:

coloured butterfly2 - wm.jpg Nikon D7000 VR 70-200mm F/2.8G 200mm F/5 1/400s ISO 250

White butterfly.jpg Nikon D7000 VR 70-200mm F/2.8G 190mm F/3.2 1/400s ISO 250

Grasshopper, went out in a rock climbers place and ended up taken the ground as best pictures.

@Marilynne: Yes it was cropped, with my current gear I think it is needed. I'll remember to explore the option to let the bug fly away.

Fries shed, being hungry and thinking what I would shoot today I came to this:

Friterie - WM sm.jpg

It was very sharp, see the sign above. It actually did not work, so I introduced noise and it works better for me.
This is very comparable to food trucks in the US, however some are just sheds like this one.

Porsche Turbo, did not have a lot of time, but did some shopping and saw this.

Porsche Turbo - WM.jpg Nikon D7000 50mm F/1.8G F/7.1 1/10s ISO 250

I put it in black and white since the car was black and dirty, looks a bit cleaner this way.

Also got the detail shot at lunch on the Audi = Rings in the mat paint this time, did not succeed that picture last time:

Aston Martin, I was out since I decided to enter a Photo competition: Imposed theme: Luxembourg city
On my way back I saw this and took out the camera, had to correct a glare (light spot from the light above) but quite happy with this one, bet I´ll change my opinion in some days.

Luxembourg, picture for 29 Aug

Business fun tradition nature - B&W.jpg

This picture represents well what I wanted to do for the competition, combine some elements:
1) Business: the building left is a large asset management firm
2) Fun: the giant wheel
3) Tradition: the crosses (sadly a graveyard)
4) Nature: the trees

However I never got a good composition, it was already difficult to get the elements together. So this one did not make the competition.
My entry seems to become something very traditional, simple, pleasing to the eye with an original angle. Sadly enough I also find it boring but the graphic of the rest is just not as strong.

P.S.: Some of the current selection for the competition was shown and one of my not original views was already in there twice.

Spider (Araneus diadematus), one of my favorites around here:Kruisspin - WM.JPG
I walked in a web this morning, then looked at the beast in it and did a regret not to have the web with it.
It seems difficult to get it full in focus for me, I'll keep working on this. Outside of the web it does not spread it legs, all crawled up is just not the best. Going back tomorrow.

This fly came out OK, I liked the shade, but I find the fly itself quite boring and the animal is too tiny for my set up.

The end of the tunnel, I was looking for the dragonfly and came across this:
Light at the end of the tunnel - WM.jpg

The family of the spider yesterday (who had moved and could not be found), Yesterday I had an other web in the way for this one, I removed it today:
Spider2 - WM.jpg

-----------------------------------------------

I forgot update on the competition: I entered the official papers and currently it states there is a pre-selection of 65 pictures and mine is in it. I at least see 3 pictures I like better then mine, but already to be passing by the jury is an honour at this stage. The entry period for the competition is closed now.
