Hummingbird nest 3-23-12

Found a hummingbird's nest in the neighbor's palm tree. Unfortunately it's a cloudy day here so this was taken in fairly low light. Hopefully we'll get some sun before these kids hit the road and I can get a few better images.

I really love this shot. I can't wait till the Hummers start showing up here. Probably another month before that happens. How did you ever get that close to their nest? You had to be really close to use the 105 for the shot.

Thanks, Mike. The next is almost eye level in a small palm tree in my neighbors driveway. I could potentially get even closer if it weren't for all the fonds in the way. Today I'm going to another neighbors house where there's a nest with 2 unhatched eggs in it. I'm excited about the possibility of getting images of the eggs hatching and day old chicks!
