How to calculate image size for printing

Yes, that's reason for using the Crop function in the Develop module to first crop the image to the size you want to print before doing the export so you know what you are going to get.
The alternative is to use the Print Module in Lightroom to set up a print job and then "Print to File" but I find I have more control over using Export.

i save as tiff , if the print lab can print a tiff your getting the best quality , if not its pretty easy to save two copies one high jpeg and one full tiff file

14x 10 no problems with the jpeg though , if you google print size to pixels needed then you should find a rough chart that shows how many pixels on each edge you need for a particular size print , make sure you crop to the print size though or you might find unwanted crops
