LR I wouldn't know but I use PS CS2. I doesn't get much older than that for our current systems.

Being a total newbie- could I get along with Lightroom 3 or and older version of Photoshop. There are a ton of older versions on e bay with a greatly reduced price. Paul

You will need the latest versions if you plan to shoot and process RAW images from the D3300. Google "Adobe Camera Software Compatibility".

Try this one first and then LR it would be too much learning both at the same time

I would suggest you download a free 30 day trial of Lightroom and then, if you like it, you can buy a copy or get a Creative Cloud subscription for $10 a month that will give you access to Lightroom and Bridge/Photoshop.

Pretty much eveything is here on the Adobe website.
