A couple shots from the Phillipsburg, NJ / Easton, PA Free Bridge area yesterday afternoon. First is 3 exposure & handheld, second is single shot (didn't want to linger in the street too long).

These are very nice Jake. This treatment goes very well with the subjects.

Thanks, Marcel. The more I play with HDR the more I learn what works and what doesn't - at least for me. It's easy to go one step too far. And then 2, and 3...

...and to miss a step. Probably should have toned down the light coming through the back window. :-/

You can definitely get more than that there nowadays - in more ways than one. LOL Actually, the area around the circle near the Crayola Factory has come a long way, with many great (seriously) restaurants and bars. Awesome Farmer's Market on the circle on Saturdays. Nice to see them doing something positive with a great old town.

Jake, very nice!! Wondered what/how you processed the single exposure bridge shot?

Thanks

Thanks, Pat. I do all my HDR work in Nik HDR Efex Pro 2. Their use of intelligent control point technology is what sets them apart, IMO. You can set up masks in PS to do similar things, but not with the ease and speed that control points give you. One click, set the scope of the change with a slider and you can then adjust most of the same parameters you've set for the entire image to a local area based on the color, brightness and texture of the point you clicked on. In other words, if I want to increase the structure/texture of the road before the bridge without effecting any thing else I insert a control point there, size it accordingly (which probably covers 1/3 of the space in front), make my adjustments, and then copy and paste duplicate control points as needed to cover the full area with the exact same settings. It would also allow me to adjust shade and temperature if there's color casting anywhere. Great tool that makes work very easy. I've never used Photomatix, but I can't imagine anything being easier to use than this. Definitely worth downloading a trial and checking it out if you like doing HDR work.

I posted these in the Architecture forum as well, but I thought I might as well share here (I hope that's not improper posting).

I've been wanting to try my hand at using HDR to "light" a large interior space. I had the opportunity on Tuesday when I needed to rearrange the platform at our church for a kids' Christmas program. The room was fairly dark, and I needed to shoot at a higher ISO so that I wasn't dealing with exposures in the "minutes" range, and I needed to limit myself to 3 shot bracketing due to time constraints. I have to say I'm more than pleased with the results - though I wish I had gotten the fisheye shot more perfectly centered. Alas, I had the tripod up against a keyboard to get it back as far as possible, which meant I was on the other side of said keys, straining to see through the viewfinder (Live mode was useless due to the manual lens and the dark room).

Thanks Dave! I'm actually not happy with the blown out light on the water. The owner is putting in red and green lights for christmas, I may go back. I think colored lights won't be as harsh.
