Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, its very much appreciated.
Thanks Scott, good to hear there's a few of us around.
Thanks for the suggestion wreckdiver, I certainly like the extra length on the 24-120, but I do shoot a lot wide open and I think I would miss that too much. I think I'll just grab a 50 f/1.8 to start and get me going and perhaps that would pair well with the 24-120. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Understood. Some people like having that extra stop, can't blame you for that. I think the 50 1.8 is a must have on the FX bodies. It's a great lens.

Hi,

From Adelaide. I have 24-70 by tamrom on my D-800 and I'm happy

Thanks Nick, I'm from Melbourne myself. I have heard nothing but good things about that Tamron 24-70, and at less than half the price of the Nikon, I am really seriously considering going that way. Every review I have read and every post about it, all say it's a really great lense.

Thanks JH and Sonic and thanks again to everyone else for the warm welcome. I like it here, everyone has been so friendly and accepting. That's probably because I haven't posted any under exposed, out of focus images of my cat and tried to pass it off as art.... yet.
Even so the atmosphere here has been great, think I'll stick around for a while ;-)

Haha thanks squaredoch, I don't really mind sharing, she's worth it.... most of the time. Except maybe, when it's things that are in my wallet.... or things that are on my plate ;)

Hiya Anco....good to see another Aussie :D Not too many of us here

Thanks Vixen, maybe we can rise up and take over and then we can change the time zone on the site, then we'll be the only one's who understand exactly when the photo challenges start and finish..... don't tell the others ;)
Btw, love your 365 thread.... just stunning!!

There is a challenge for you for next year :D If you want a way of improving then a 365 will DEFINITELY do that for you. It's hard going to stay in it tho :D

Thanks for the compliment :D

The great thing about the project 365 thread is, that you can start it any time, and don't even have to post in it every day.;)
I normally post in there on the weekends, and reserve my best shots just for that thread.
It even comes with a musical score. LOL:biggrin-new:

I think if I start a 365 thread now and shoot it on Pentax I'll get blacklisted from the site. I could always just delete the exif I guess, but then people are going to say, if you shot that with a D610, then you're doing it wrong
