HELP: Lens advice for event?

You know what I have numerous fast lenses and I have found that nothing beats available light, so if lighting will be an issue then invest in a speedlight then atleast you will have the light for you lenses and also you can bounce/reflect the light as you wish. Makes more sense but learn it before you commit.

Update: used the Tamron 24-70 and was very pleased. I have a speedlight, but as luck would have it, the new batteries i loaded died after a few shots. Nevertheless, the lens performed well and i was pleased with the photos.
thanks for all the advice. . . now, what do i use for a 4 mile hike, some wildlife, and shots of landscapes? I'll post that elsewhere.

Sounds great! Post a few samples if you can.
