I'm also new to the site. It seems to be the most knowledge enriched site for Nikon enthusiast. I really love photography of all types. My problem is I am a lover of gadgetry. I majored in Speech Communication, back when that existed 
, and studied film photography. My question is, while understanding totally that great images are only partially controlled by the equipment and the rest by the photographer's creative eye, I have nikon 35mm 1.8, 18-105mm kit lens, 70-300mm 4.5-5.6mm VR, 80-200mm 2.8. Is the 17-55mm 2.8G IF-ED worth adding? I want to use it as a walk around and portrait lens. I shoot with a Nikon D7000 with D90 back up, Any advice would be well appreciated.
