I have what looks like a small insect or piece of fluff inside mt D7100.
I removed the lense, cleaned the sensor, mirror and gave the whole inside a good blow of air, but the thing is still there.
It doesn't however, appear on any images!!!
Anyone have any bright ideas, or can point out something I've missed??
Thanks
Jim :nightmare:

This is not at all uncommon. If it doesn't appear on any images, but you can still see it, then it likely is in your eyepiece. Remove any eyepiece cover and clean the cover and the eyepiece on the camera and see if that takes care of it.

Hi whiskeys. Nice to meet you, although for me the spelling is wrong (being Scottish).
I removed the protective screen/eyepiece cover and gave it a good clean.
If the offending article is behind the eyepiece, that means unscrewing stuff, and I don't feel that is a task for a fumbling 70 year old.
Whaddyathink??

I assume that the offending object is still present. Did you purchase the D7100 locally? If so let someone from where you purchased it take a look at it. I don't recall how the eyepiece on the D7100 was affixed, so I can't be sure how to do any more than what you've described. If you are uncomfortable doing something to your camera, by all means don't.

Its probably in between the focusing screen. I had a small hair like object I couldn't get rid of. When the camera went to Nikon for a recall it came back minus the hair.
