The only pictures I have of her are all like this. I have to be quick, catlike even....

Shame about the foreground head coming in the way.
These 'snapshots' can sometimes yield great pictures, but if your subject is adamant in not wanting her picture taken it does prove difficult.

However, she does have the eyes for a good portrait I would say, so maybe you should convince her to let you take a few portrait pictures - she may be pleasantly surprised at how nice the pictures come out and therefore come out of her shell a bit too :)

You need to learn how to negotiate with a woman. ;) A few nice poses for you, and she can buy that nice handbag she's always wanted.

.......(just kidding of course, my wife is crazy about handbags)

I have to say, I actually think the imperfections of this photo are what make it interesting. We get so caught up with composition, lighting, foreground, background, etc, that sometimes we forget about the power of rawness.

I feel like it tells a much better story than a set up shot.

However, I'm probably more partial to this shot only because I am familiar with everything in it! haha

The only person that needs to be happy with the photo is the person who took it. After that it's the person who paid for it. Otherwise we're all just critics. LOL

I can definitely see what there is to like in the original. I was just taking what pistnbroke offered and offering a something that might be more universally pleasing. I also really wanted to try out what I learned yesterday about blur filters. LOL

Nice candid shot, some people just don't like the camera but the camera likes your lady.
Photogenic and beautiful if you don't mind me saying so.

Believe me, no amount of convincing will ever work on her. As soon as the camera comes out, she gets super shy and hides her face whenever it is pointed even remotely in her direction! haha - I've kind of turned it into a game, and always have fun trying to sneak shots of her when she's not expecting it. :)

Have you invested in a remote (wireless) shutter - could be easier to leave the camera somewhere and then hit the button when she's not expecting it :)

It's an honest natural shot, what is there to not like ?

Thank you, I appreciate that!

Photography is an art, and art is certainly subjective... but when it comes to people, I am partial to the candid, photo-journalistic style.
