Or today's deal. What the heck is "determine your focus point after the capture"?

The cam not only captures the light but also the direction it is going. I can then render a 3D scene. Once you got that, you can focus anywhere for a 2D shot.

I was reading up on it; pretty amazing.

It's nothing you want to trade in your DSLR for. At least not at this point of its development.

Yeah, pretty interesting. I watched a video where a fellow explained the process to the reporter. Says the file is only around 50mb and when you choose your focus point it drops down on export. Said people post them on whatever social site and lookers can adjust them to their choosing. I'll bet this light field imaging will have legs.

The idea is great but once you start reading about the actual performance, you prefer to wait some generations.

It's the video possibilities that interest me more. Imagine a high definition video version of this technology from which to grab fully editable frames. 10 years away? 5?
