Extraordinary find today at Gulf Island National Seashore Park in Ocean Springs, Ms.

A lot of you know that I almost daily visit the park to photograph Egrets, Pelicans, Turtles, Snakes and yes Alligators. No gators today but in my quest for trying to find something a little different I spotted something truly rare and I believe that out of over 7,000 members I am the only one that has managed to capture not only one, but two rare white crocks on the bank of Davis Bayou. While maintaining a safe distance and using a long lens I managed to capture the image below. I feel like this has really elevated my long quest to get something unusual and unique. LOL
The reason for this post is to get everyone to start using their imagination more and try something different. I myself will try and and be a little more imaginative in weeks to come.

Marilynne, I think I finally found something that you haven't photographed! LOL

I ran in to a friend today out at GINS Park and while we were sitting under one of the pavilions we started trying to get a shot of a bee flying around. This was shot at 200mm at a distance of about 15ft and is the best one I managed to get. If you want a challenge try and get one of these fast moving things in focus. Even at 1/4000 sec I couldn't stop his wings.Out of seven tries this is the only shot you could tell had a bee in it!

On my visit today to the park I found a baby rattler hiding under a rotting log and managed to get a good shot of it while staying a safe distance away. Thank goodness for telephoto lenses, they let you manage to get nature photos from a safe distance. Don't try this with a short or wide angle lens it could be unhealthy. This is another photo in my series of finding unusual subjects to photograph. LOL

I think I've shot one of these Jeff. Looks like Elroy Jetson.

One of the riders really got on their high horse today. Just out of frame to the right was a duplicate set of jumps that the horse had just gone over.

These are two shots of a huge mural that covers the front of a large restaurant that is on the beach in Biloxi, Ms. The brown and white fish in the top photo is probably about 20ft long or better.

I love the horse show shots! Nicely done, Jeff! I need to find an event like that to photograph.

Woody, it was a lot of fun and was the first horse show I have ever been to. On the 13th and 14th this month there is a rodeo nearby and I hope to be able to do some shooting there. Never been to one of them either.
