Giottos Tripod

my understanding is that they are a copy cat of the Gitzo brand, so,, very similar features,, and such, but perhaps some quality trad-offs for less money ..

I personally use manfrotto tripod, I have both the aluminum and carbon fibre models. I like the release mechanism of manfrotto, Never been a fan of twist releases, but prefer levers, but
each their own.

I noticed at the last class I held, that the professionals all had heavy duty Gitzos, and the serious photographers had 50 50 between Gitzos and Manfrotto.

I really recommend going to a pro store, and checking out tripods in person, I don't think I would just buy one blindly.

but,, maybe the Giottos are great.....

Yea I would go and see it if it were available in our so called pro stores, but it is not and this is the main reason i am asking about it here. All they carry is mostly Manfrotto and though it is a good brand it is not fitting what I am looking for. This one does as it has the Arcus Swiss head as well as it has more height on the base tripod. As I can't see it or hold it just looking for input from others that might have. Not saying that I don't appreciate any and all input as I do listen to what others views are in regards to that things I am looking at. I am always keeping an open mind.

The Max height ( 69" ) really perked my interest in this one along with the multi positioning head with the smaller center shaft. I have read on reviews that it is somewhat heavier but like any thing there is bad with the good. It has the option of twist lock legs and also toggle lock legs. Both have their merits but really how it feels is important in my opinion. I have just bought the Fotopro tripod for its travel applications along with back packing ( size and weight) something like this looks good for a second or maybe a main tripod to have as well. I guess there is another question as to how many tripods do most people have?
