This is the largest "common snapping turtle" I have encountered, ever.

In this image, the body is visible beneath the water. Most of the voters know what they were seeing.

My first thought was a beaver that got hit with an ugly stick, but those eyes are a give away. Was very near a beaver lodge and had seen some fresh timber falls. The neck on that thing is huge, got a fleeting glimps.

Here is another snapping turtle captured on the same day but different body of water. They do not sun themselves near as much as other turtles do.
