Fx camera on Dx mode to shoot wild life?

I guess the only benefit of using DX mode would be to increase your FPS and buffer if needed, because it does reduce file size.

Another advantage would be that all the focus points cover almost all the DX cropped area.

Sounds like you are going in the direction of getting a full frame camera. Do you have a way to rent one for a weekend to see how you like it and the results? I would do that before taking pulling the trigger if possible.
