And now, even better news! I just found out that Kodak DOES make TMax-100 in 100 foot rolls. It is about $75.00, which brings the 36 exposure roll cost down to about $2.75 a roll. Life is GOOD again!

I for one, hope that continues to work out for you. we all need to follow our artistic muse. I know that some film photographers scan their negatives into their computers to do further post editing. I wonder if the resulting prints are better or worse than having their prints made at a photo lab?

I inherited an OM PC and an OM 10 Olympus body from my father with a Zuiko f 1.8 Auto S lense, with manual adapter, a SIGMA f 2.8 30-75 mm telephoto, a SOLIGAR 200 mm f 4 telephoto, and a Tokini f 2.8 28 mm wide angle lense and an Olympus T32 electronic Flash. I own a Canon EOS rebel T3i w/canon EF-S 18-55mm zoom and Canon EF-S 55-250mm zoom, also a Canon Powershot S5is with f 2.7 w/12 power zoom and articulated screen, and a Lumix Panasonic DCM-ZS25 with Leica 20 power lense. I've used the Lumix most because of convenience, but will have more time because I'm retiring. As a child I worked with my Dad in a BW liquid darkroom. Also took a class two summers ago in Lightroom. (As an aside, I sold 600 LP's for probably $.50 per disk only to see the store to price them at $19.00 or more per disk.). Question, is there any value to resurrecting the Olympus 35mm format, or should I donate it to a history museum and take the tax deduction? BTW I don't have any darkroom access.

"I remember when CDs came out and that was the end of vinyl as the standard, ecept for DJs"

Vinyl is making a comeback. All the high tech sound shops stock turntables now....
I shoot about a roll of film a year just for the tactile experience it gives me

Thanks for the reply. Are the two olympus bodies, one standard Olympus lense and the off brand tele & w/a worth anything or do they produce good photos?

So fatalistic in here. I'm still shooting film exclusively, still processing black & white at home and getting my color films developed locally. You just gotta know where to look, where the deals are, how important it is to you etc.
And despite a lot of film stocks not being produced any more, there are still great, great selections in both B&W and color.
I wouldn't write it off just yet.

Amen to that!

I just got back into film a few months ago, and I'm enjoying it. I'm learning photography all over again just like you would in 1985, when my FE2 was sold in stores. I've only been using cheap Fuji Superia, but I plan to buy some professional film soon.

Not to quibble, but okay, I quibble - Fuji's Superia is "only" great film. I recently bought some Kodak Portra 160 and it's nice, and expensive, but I don't like it as well as Fuji's Superia 200 or 400. I'm taking 4 rolls of the 400 on my next mini vacation.

I'm not speaking from experience. I bought all of mine at Black's just a month ago. I bought all of their last 400 and 200 rolls here in Windsor. I just assumed this was consumer grade film, and then there's professional film. I have never bought professional film in my life. Thom Hogan doesn't care for Velvia. He prefers Provia. I just want to buy a few rolls of the best choice and do my best with it. I don't know how much better my pics will turn out.

I pulled my Nikon f65 out at the beginning of December and shortly after that I purchased a mint Canon Elan 7 with three lenses. I then went to Adorama and ordered a selection of films. My plan right now is to shoot film exclusively until at least spring.

I shoot with a $5 goodwill Canon T70 and surprised at how nice the photos come out with the 50mm 1.8 and the 135 f2.5. I use the Holga tlr occasionally as well. I would like to pick up a Nikon some day to replace my N8008.

I have 2 T70 slr's, in fact the one is the first SLR that I ever purchased. The second one I purchased off eBay as a spare and a parts camera. I still use both of them and they take excellent photos.

I picked up a fd 28mm 2.8 at a pawn shop for cheap as well but have not used it yet. What film do you use?

I've been using Fuji Neopan 100 for B&W and Fuji color 400.

Many years ago at a Kodak seminar we where told the main difference between amateur and pro film was its designed storage capability's,pro film was designed to be bought, stored in ideal conditions then used fairly soon in its life and processed quickly after exposure, amateur film was designed to stand long incorrect storage and still produce great results,to stand processing a year after exposure as at the time many people would buy a 36 exposure film and have Christmas on each end and the summer holidays in the middle.

Thats probably changed now
