I use a 7 year old Mac Pro and it can handle any photographic or video task I can throw at it.

What type of processor is on your iMac? How much RAM does it have, and how full is your hard drive? Photoshop and Lightroom have specifications that give certain requirements for those programs. Without at least meeting those specifications, it would be difficult to run PCC and LR. Sorry to hear about it--must be frustrating for sure!

Thanks hark,
Yeah, I checked all of that. It was slow out of the box with the old generation 5600 processor. It just isn't adequate. If I had the choice I would have upgraded, but that wasn't up to me.
My point was not so much to whine about my problems, but to point out that you really have to get the appropriate Mac because you can get stuck with no way to upgrade the pooter after purchase. :(

I have other issues with Apple that don't even have anything to do with the computer performance.

However, if I have to do anything with a Windows computer I remember why I switched. Just right now I am not feeling the love.

Yeah, just make sure you have the faster processor and enough memory to begin with. If you want to see the Mac in use. That dude from Phlearn uses one for photos and tutorials. He is a pro photographer.
