I think Nikon views the articulating screen as a whimsical consumer grade feature, with no place on a pro or semi-pro body. I did like having it on my D5100.

I did use it on occasion. I can see where it could have been a problem on a camera used everyday all the time.

I still use it on my D5100... in fact, sometimes I take it on purpose because I believe I will have a need to use the articulating feature...

Once I got my bearings it was cool if you wanted to take a pic low to the ground or something similar without actually getting on the ground. I just wondered how well it would have held up getting swiveled 45,000 times. In the end, I did like having it.
