Hello everybody !! :)

i guess i'll say something about me..

i'm from venezuela (totally not sad chavez just died) but i live in belgium since almost 12 years now, i don't really have experience in photography as i am more into HD video, but i do love photography, it has always been a dream...

a while ago i started using this canon 400D which later on got stolen when my home got broken into, so i couldn't practice anymore... bummer because i had a giant flash, battery grip and a super cool zoom...

now i got a pretty nikon D5000 and a canon 400D, bought them together, sweet deal... :)

oh yes...forgot to mentioned that, i'm a newbie :)

cheers everybody

Welcome!

Is your intention to experiment with the two brands and eventually settle on a format, or do you plan on buying a lot of glass? :)

hey hey

i will keep the nikon, it scares me and challenges me at the same time..

if by "glass" you mean lenses, then yes, i need to change the factory lens because it's scratch, but since my home got broken into, i'm not ready to buy me new gear...but definitely will :)

I wasn't cracking wise - it was a serious question. It's very rare to see someone dive into two rather expansive (and potentially expensive) pools, particularly when you can't share much of anything between the two. So I think the question is perfectly valid. The fact that you had a Canon and went back to the same model speaks to your feelings towards it, so I was just surprised that you'd dabble in Nikon without the potential that you might abandon your Canon for it down the road. Unless you decide to focus (no pun intended) on specific genres with each brand just the idea of replicating lenses is a little daunting to me.

This is a good point. One camera alone can get rather expensive if you go all out with lenses, flashes, etc. Two different brands of cameras is alot unless ofcourse you don't worry about money or time.

i should've mentioned that...

at first i didn't have a cam, since my sister wasn't really using her canon, i asked her if i could take it to practice, so i tarted using the canon, then my home got broken into....

like 2 weeks ago i came across this great opportunity to get both the same model of canon that was stolen and the nikon, so i bought both of them, the canon goes to my sister because.....oh well...just because....

since now i got my own dslr... i can do whatever i want with it :)

it could've been 2 canons or 2 nikons.. i really got no preference because i have only used 1 brand so far, since i'm not rich.. i really can't put money on a brand new cam...so when this opportunity came...i took it !!!

hopes this clarifies any doubts... :)
