Focus Issue D7000

doing the 35mm is always going to be difficult....put an expanding tape on the floor ..pull out about 4 ft then stand about 12 ft away and with your 200mm a F5.6 focus on the 16 inch mark ,I often use flash as well (maybe put a pencil to point at it to help) then view the image on your computer zoom in say 50 % and see what is in focus on the rule.. Crude but it will get you off the mark to find out whats wrong.

of course if you are doing this in JPEG and you have not upped the sharpness to +9 then everything will be blurred ..thats how they come out the factory.

Thanks to all for your assistance. I took a picture of an item in my kitchen window sill and put it in the center of the picture under the center focus point. When I looked at it on the camera screen and then computer the focus point was blurry and the picture was crisp sharp focused on a tea maker far right of the picture. It could not have been further off. Without placing the data here I had the proper settings in the camera and the picture was great just not focused anywhere near where I shot it at. I have created a warranty case with Nikon and will be mailing it back to them for repair today.

Sorry but once I decided to send it to Nikon for service I deleted the picture from my computer and formatted the cards so I do not have it. But it was my 35 MM prime so I am sure I used F/1.8 ISO 100. Cannot even recall the shutter speed but it would have been 200 or more as I wanted to ensure it was not the settings.
