Flickr v ? (Open for suggestions)

I just spent the better part of an hour registering and uploading a few images on flickr. I could see the image thumbnails, could click it to look at the image. Then I proceeded to look at another link. Coming back, there were no images and I got the same page that suggested I upload something.

About 2 hours later, assuming maybe flickr's computers were busy and took a while to catch up, I attempted to log onto Flickr. This time all I got was blank page no matter what variation of url I plugged in, even using google. It's been that way for the last 1/2 hour. I have a very fast connection and tested my computer for lag and just about everything else so I'm guessing flickr is having issues.

Anyway, I mention the saga as a preface to my thread title. No doubt pilot error could be the issue. Someone suggested I get setup with a online setup like flickr. They can't be the only game in town, and hopefully not so laggy.

Open for suggestions in sunny So Ca, USA - please advise.

Cheers

press {Ctrl} F5 on your pc? that refreshes your cache on your computer. You may have been seeing a saved page.

Did it - I can now see Flick. Thanks Don.

Suggestions about Flickr or other photo posting sites?

I design websites and I learned that lesson a long time ago. I wold make a change and it would not show up. I would check the code and it would be correct. Drove me crazy till I decided to clear the cache. now I have my browser set to delete the cache every time I close the windows.

And I thought I knew all the Windows tricks, but it takes a coder to learn me a thing or two. LOL

Flickr was having issues last night.

I use several photo sites, Flickr has become my favorite since they changed their layout.

I can concur that Flickr was out for a bit this morning (Aus time).

Thanks for that info.

At this point I'm frustrated: twice I've uploaded images and now flickr says I haven't uploaded anything.

I'm wondering if I'm missing a step. Do you have to doing anything to say the images after they've been uploaded?

Pretty straight forward. Once you click upload in the right hand upper corner there should be a box pop open in the middle asking to upload to photostream. I just did another one to make sure.

Can't help with that, I upload straight from my phone or through Lightroom.

What file file format are your photos in? Flickr says they need to be .JPG, .GIF, .PNG or .TIFF though the latter will be automatically converted to .JPG during the upload.

Flickr won't upload RAW files.

Well I got it. It wasn't the drag 'n drop vs the Old Uploadr method.

When I clicked the images on my computer to upload, I could see the computer transferring the files and there a button above that says "Upload xx images". Obviously I had a brain fart bc I thought this was an indication that I had uploaded xx images, but in fact the last step was to click that button telling Flickr to finalize the upload.

I checked out ZenFolio and they seem pretty good, but I don't have enough work to put on display to justify the annual fee. As things progress, I'll likely go that direction.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help.
