Pete, did you ever read this thread? It helps explain the merits of tagging on Flickr. However, with everyone's photos getting tagged (with some of those being tagged incorrectly), it may reduce the views for those whose photos are especially good.

How is this possible? Say you have tags on an image, or none at all. Flickr adds tags it assumes are relevant. How on earth does adding tags REDUCE the views for an image which is 'especially good'? I can see it helping increase view, while they may be incorrect, but how does it REDUCE views?

I'm still in the minority apparently as one who views this as a way to INCREASE views if anything.
