Flash indicator alert

Hello everyone
I bought a Nikon d7100 three months ago, and after a month I noticed that the flash indicator is blinking in the viewfinder most of the time. It is present when it's daylight and there is plenty of light. It is present in modes A,S and P. Sometimes the auto-iso signal blinks with it. I'm not sure whether it has any effect on the photo exposure, but I have the impression it is a bit underexposed. I couldn't find any explanation in the manual. I would appreciate it if anyone know what's the problem and how to fix it.
Thanks
Asaf

See p119 in the manual. Basically check your camera settings. If you have auto flash set for red eye reduction, it will appear in pretty much as you describe

That indicates the camera is not happy with exposure OR it could indicate the subject is backlit, suggesting flash might help. There is a setting to turn it off, d11, but make sure you are not choosing to underexpose these shots. You say you may have had some shots underexposed. It certainly could be. Along with the flash indicator, does the meter come up in the viewfinder? If so, check exposure. When it flashes, pay attention to if the subject is backlit or if the meter comes up and is 'unhappy' with exposure.

I just wanted to add... if auto iso is flashing that means your camera felt a need to raise the iso from above your base. its not necessarily bad, it is just saying an automatic adjustment was made to iso. I don't know your experience level, but if you are still learning about how exposure works, I would turn off auto iso while you are learning.

Shut mine off I wish I could shut everything off in the VF except for the focus points I hate to be distracted with any info I don't want to see...
