Flash Compatibility

Welcome to the forum. "won't work" is not descriptive. What doesn't work? What happens? How are you using it? On hot shoe? Remote slave? Triggering it how? Tell us about it.

That been said, you set the manual mode, manually set the shutter speed to anything between, say, 1/60 sec to 1/200 sec, and it still wouldn't work?

Hi! Sorry my description was a bit vague! i have tried using it on the hot shoe and it wont fire. i have tried it on every setting and no luck...however...I am just getting back into photography and may be doing something wrong. I have the Nikon SB-910 and it works perfectly! the Yongnuo is firing when i press the test button and it has fresh batteries. Should just have got another Nikon flash!

Or take a few minutes and learn how to use it?
Not trying to be rude or anything, but more often then not when these kind of problems are posted , they can usually be resolved with reading the manual or doing a google search, or even reading the replies and suggestions of veterans on this forum.

When it comes to flashes, Wayne knows what he's talking about!

I don't know about this case. Test button fires it, so batteries are surely oriented correctly. Sometimes the problem is that the flash is not inserted deep enough into the hot shoe, not making contact with the foot pin. But if in hot shoe and turned on, it ought to trigger with shutter button. You could test for a foot defect, by using a metal paper clip or a screwdriver blade (off camera), to short the foot pin to the metal foot frame. It should fire. Won't hurt anything, shorting that pin is how it is triggered. The shutter shorts that pin on the hot shoe. (and the flash tube can get hot, so do NOT lay it face down on anything that could scorch. Aim it out away from you in the clear.)

I have lost all carriage returns/line breaks in this forums editor? Should be four of them above. It kept me from posting here a couple of other times today (unreadable). And it will not let me edit now, Save is dead, inoperative?

Yongnuo 590III is manual only. This will not work in TTL mode if that's what you are looking for. Adjust everything for shooting with a manual flash and make sure your shutter is set under 1/200 for it to work properly.

This flash is compatible with any standard hot shoe (Not such as the like of previous Minolta/Sony hotshoes).
