Nice shot, Damon. I see you have the SB-700 flash. Good! My guess is you had it set on the narrow setting (referring to the settings graphic on the right hand side of the flash.) Maybe try the wide open setting, see what it does...or at least see the difference it would make.

I think the "narrow" light pattern and lack of diffused light is a wonderful device for this shot. considering your subject is so well recognizable, adding a little mystery to it was a great idea.
