First Milky Way attempt

Have never shot anything sky-wise other than clouds and the moon.

I went out and shot the milky way last night and here is what I ended up with. I started getting the ISO dialed in to where I wanted it but the clouds moved in so had to leave. Thinking next time too, I will travel further away from Omaha. Didn't realize how far the light pollution goes. I was about 20-25 miles outside of the city for this. Also, probably shoot RAW next time too.

This is one exposure. Haven't read enough about stacking etc to know what to do. Also unedited since the edited image was to large to upload.

Shot with 18-55mm Kit Lens too

Some friends and I went out to where we thought it would be dark and even with no moon you could see the trees on the other side of the lake. WE are going nest week and this place should be true dark sky according to the dark sky map. Can't wait.

The darkest sky I have found to date was Escalante, Utah. Nearest city 70 miles and you could still see the light pollution, but in this case it was completely manageable.

Keep practicing and know it's the edit that brings out the milky way. Good first attempt.
